Oneida County Snowmobile Council News

The Oneida County Board is considering removing the Recreation Deputy position within the Sheriff’s Department. This person is responsible for working with the Department of Natural Resources in patrolling the Oneida County snowmobile trail system.  The funds saved by eliminating this position will then be used for illegal drug use prevention and drug crime investigations.  The OCSC opposes this shift in funding. The Council feels that this is taking a step backwards in protecting landowners from preventing trespassing on their property and promoting snowmobile safety on our trail system by enforcing current laws.  This proposal will be reviewed during the month of October and a decision will be made during the November 3rd County Board meeting.
