Trails Still Remain Closed

21 – 01_15 – Trails Remain Closed

Members:

After a week’s worth of encouraging predictions of 3 to 8 inches of possible new snow, when all was said and done, we actually received very little.

Unfortunately this morning, snow depths range from zero inches in Tomahawk to maybe an inch in Rhinelander and the rest of the county received a little bit more, but not much.

The nine snowmobile clubs that make up the Oneida County Snowmobile Council were contacted this morning by the Forestry Department to evaluate whether or not the new snowfall was enough to open Oneida County trails.

Based on the lack of significant new snow, two-thirds of the clubs voted to keep the trails closed at this time.

Once we receive another snowfall, the OCSC will again reevaluate the trails.  Unfortunately, the long range forecast doesn’t look very encouraging for the next week or so.

I wish I had better news to report …
