Trail 12 Re-Route Information
Forest Riders Trail Maintenance Coordinator Michael Krajnik has provided the following information regarding a re-route of Trail 12 in the Willow Region.
For various reasons, the Town of Lynne has been asked to and is plowing the majority of Flowage Road. Because of this, we built a new trail off of Flowage Road in the Town of Lynne. As the club did not print new maps for this season, it is not on the current MFRSC maps. However, the “official” Oneida County Snowmobile Trail Map is updated to reflect this (see map segment below, click to open full screen in new tab).
For as long as I remember, Flowage Road was a funded snowmobile trail. As we know, plowed roads do not make great snowmobile trails or routes. They are also not eligible for funding under the DNR snowmobile program in Wisconsin. This trail was many years in the making. It was built using old trails or logging lanes that were not opened up or used for decades. This entire new trail is now funded trail – Corridor Trail 12. Funded Corridor 12 was moved off of Flowage Road onto this new trail. The west / south part is now also funded Trail 5 concurrent with Trail 12.
Flowage Road will be a road “route” trail and will be “12B”. Part of it will also concurrently be Trail W. This is used to access the Willow Flowage trail. The section of trail formerly Trail 5 from Flowage Road at TIN 662 up to Trail 12 / 5 will also now be Trail W.

Because of the last two winters being low snow with limited snowmobiling, my wife Selena and I spent time each of those winters brushing and opening up this new trail.
As mentioned, this trail was many years in the making and took a significant amount of time to plan and physically build. The majority of this new trail was done by our club volunteers.
I would like to thank the following club members for spending a great deal of time and donating the use of their personal equipment on this trail this fall:
Jon Hollander, Jim McCafferty, Merrill Schield, Justin Guslick, Wayne Zygarlicke, Bruce Larose, Dave Hermes. Selena Krajnik
I apologize if I missed anyone – there were a lot of people involved. Thank you!
I would also like to thank Darwin Baird and Ed Rynders with Rynders Companies for helping with the forestry mulcher work.
Finally, thanks to the property managers from the lands involved for working with us to make this trail happen. All of this trail is on governmental land and should hopefully be a snowmobile trail for decades to come.
We already have plans to improve the trail base to make the trail better in low-snow years or conditions.
Thank you, again, to everyone who helped make this possible in the most cost-effective way for the club!
Michael Krajnik
