Vintage Snowmobile Day Coming to Minocqua

FEBRUARY 10, 2025: The Minocqua Forest Riders Snowmobile Club and the Area 31 team are pleased to announce a new vintage snowmobile event, that includes our annual snowmobile raffle, to be held at the Area 31, 13050 Gilbertson Road, Minocqua, Wisconsin facility on February 22, 2025. For a number of years, the third weekend in February celebrated our largest annual fundraiser, the raffling of a new snowmobile. This season, we needed to identify a new location and the collaboration with Area 31 began. “Area 31 is really looking forward to hosting the inaugural vintage day with the Forest Riders. With the tremendous history of this facility being the test centers for both Mercury and Yamaha snowmobiles, it should be the perfect venue,” stated Chayce Walker, Area 31 Manager.

The day’s big events include; the raffle for a new 2024 Ski-Doo® MXZ X-RS Snowmobile, vintage radar run, vintage snowmobile showcase, vintage Yamaha® Enticer Oval Race. This family friendly event is open to the public and riding your snowmobile to Area 31 on February 22nd will be encouraged. The vintage radar run competition will operate from 9:00am – 2:30pm. Registration forms are available at www.vintagesnowmobileday.com or you can register the morning of the event. Trophies will be presented in 12 categories for sleds 1985 and older. Following the radar run will be a vintage oval race (snow permitting). This world class championship race will feature the Yamaha Enticer line of snowmobiles that are known for their high performance, long-range riding capacity and innovative features.

“Snowmobiling in the Northwoods is a lifestyle for many. It’s our hope that by expanding our snowmobile raffle event to include the vintage sled activities, our club and the community will see an increase in snowmobile enthusiasts this year and in years to come”, stated Jerry Wakefield, Minocqua Forest Riders Club President. This is your opportunity to learn a little history about the sport and its machines. Sleds such as the Midnight Oil Mercury and a Ski Doo Double Eagle are just a couple of the vintage sleds that we already know will be on display. Our vintage snowmobile showcase is open to sleds from 1985 and older. Trophies will also be awarded in multiple categories; including a People’s Choice award. Showcase registration will take place the day of.

Food, beer and other refreshments along with basket raffles, a bon-fire, groomer display and more will be ongoing throughout the day. Sales for the day will benefit the Minocqua Forest Riders trail maintenance and equipment fundraising efforts.

The Minocqua Forest Riders Snowmobile Club is a 100% volunteer, non-profit 501c3 organization. It operates exclusively on state funding and individual/business donations. Snowmobile raffle tickets will be available at the event or they can purchased in advance at area businesses.
